A Cote d'Azur suite at the cost of 39,000 euros
I didn't put the wrong number of zeros in. You need to pay about 40,000 euros ($43,000) a night and it needs to be booked a year ahead. You stay in a 650-square meter penthouse with a butler , fitness room and 150 sq m rooftop terrace with a swimming pool. A Russian customer once tried to fill it with champagne. Guess who booked the room during the entire film festive last year? A Chinese businessman.

At 6 am the hotel chef Maryan Gandon is already standing in front of oven and starting to prepare Chinese fried noodles.
To cater to the need of Chinese customers and diversify its cuisine the hotel introduced a Chinese breakfast few months ago, the chef says.
"We get many compliments for the Chinese breakfast. Not only Asian customers like it, even the European people like it," says Pierre Louis Renou, general manager at the Majestic. The inclusion of Chinese cuisine is a reflection of the increasing popularity of the Chinese film industry and tourism in Cannes. Pictures of Chinese movie stars can be found everywhere inside the hotel.
Chinese films are also shown during the film festival and Renou believes they provide visibility for the Chinese movie industry and its stars.
"There is a great dynamic (in the Chinese movie industry), because there is a lot of surprise, a lot of coverage, and also we can see the number of movies directed by Chinese directors gets bigger and bigger. Year after year we have more and more visitors from China, including families, businessmen and celebrities," he adds.
