SEOUL - South Korea and Japan will hold a vice ministerial-level strategic dialogue in Tokyo on Wednesday to discuss bilateral and regional issues, Seoul's foreign ministry said Monday.

Cho Tae-yong, South Korean first vice foreign minister, will visit Japan to hold a strategic dialogue on Oct 1 with his Japanese counterpart Akitaka Saiki, according to the ministry.

During the 13th round of the dialogue, the two senior diplomats will have a deep consultation on comprehensive issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, issues on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and regional and global issues, the ministry said.

The South Korea-Japan strategic dialogue between vice foreign ministers was launched in October 2005 as part of efforts to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues under a bigger framework.
