MANILA - A Filipino-Chinese couple was shot dead by two unidentified armed suspects early Saturday in Philippine capital Metro Manila, local police said later that day.

The victims, identified as Ninting Wong, 70, and his wife, Quency Wong, were attacked by two gunmen riding motorcycle in tandem near their plastic factory in Tenejeros village in Malabon city at around 6:00 am, Malabon city police station said.

The suspects allegedly robbed the couple of the payroll money amounting to around 100,000 pesos (about $2,439) for their employees.

The wife sustained gunshot wound in her head, while her husband was hit in his chest. Both were declared dead on arrival when they were rushed to the Manila Central University hospital, the police added.

According to the police, robbery was probably the motive behind the killing, and they were hunting the suspects.
