JERUSALEM - Israelis have mixed feelings towards American involvement in Middle East peace and its role in Israel, according to a survey released Wednesday.

One third of the respondents to the B'nai Brith World Center Survey on Contemporary Israeli Attitudes Toward Diaspora Jewry answered that they believe the United States had hindered the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians.

Another third answered that the US had moved it forward, while the rest third did not know if America had impeded or benefited the peace process, the poll showed.

When referring to Diaspora Jews issues, the survey found that 76 percent of Israelis disagreed with Diaspora Jews boycotting settlements, while 13 percent supported the idea.

Israelis showed support to promoting government investment in Diaspora affairs, with 80 percent of respondents in favor of programs like Masa and Birthright that bring young Jews to visit Israel.

Many Israelis showed their generous side with fellow Jews by agreeing to help with government money Diaspora Jews from crisis- riddled countries, like Greece and Spain, with 46 percent in favor and 43 percent opposing it.

The poll was carried out by KEEVOON Research, Strategy & Communications during this month among 500 young Israelis over the age of 18.
