JAKARTA - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Thursday demanded a full investigation on the crash of Sukhoi super jet 100 on Wednesday, according to local media reports.

The picture of the wreckage displays it was broken into many small pieces, indicating a small possibility of survival in a mountainous area in Bogor near Jakarta.

The latest data of manifest recorded 8 Russian crew and 45 passengers were on board.

"I expect that there will be a full and careful investigation," the President Yudhoyono told a press conference broadcast live by local televisions.

The accident took place when the plane was trying to descend from 10,000 feet high to 6,000 feet high on its way to return the air force base in East Jakarta, according to Transport Ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan.

A report said that the pilot contacted the official at the traffic control in main airport in Jakarta.

A question appears why the official at the main airport in Jakarta allow the pilot to descent the plane at 6,000 feet high, while the mountain it collided was at 7,000 feet high.
