Sow gives birth to piglet with 4-cm nose

Sow kept by a farmer in Jilin city gave birth to a piglet that had a nose like an elephant, New Cultural Daily reported on Thursday. The farmer, surnamed Hong, found that the pig, born on Oct 2, had a 4-cm-long nose, with only one nostril, and no mouth. It died two hours after birth.

Woman claiming to be a descendant of the royal family in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) has been detained in Xi'an, Shanxi province, for fraud, reported Chinese Business View.

The "princess", surnamed Wang, 48, allegedly swindled six investors by claiming to have keys to eight coffers where the frozen assets from the late dynasty are hidden. The suspect who has only finished primary school reportedly persuaded them to chip in a total of 5.72 million yuan ($934,000) to help her "pull the strings" and unfreeze the money. The victims were promised a return worth three times their investments.

The scam unfolded when one of the investors discovered that the $500,000 he got from the "princess" was mostly forged notes.

Man almost killed his six-year-old son after he forced him to ingest pesticide, Nanfang Daily reported on Thursday. The man was hallucinating after taking drugs and made a phone call to police, saying that he was being hunted by someone. When police arrived, the man was forcing his son to take pesticide. The boy was taken to hospital and is recovering.

Woman in Xiamen was detained for five days for allowing her pet horse to walk in a driving lane on a bridge, Strait Herald reported on Wednesday. The woman, surnamed Qiu, was driving in the emergency lane of Haicang Bridge in Xiamen while allowing the pony to walk alongside on Sunday. Qiu said she was on her way to a temple to pray, so she took her pet along.
