Dalian proposes employment program

Zhang Shaohong, member of the Dalian CPPCC, said that training and practice is an important component of higher education and a necessary way for students to learn about society. Therefore, to strengthen training and practice, an employment "express" program will be established for college graduates.

Situation: Enterprises and college students have little oppurtunities to interact. Zhang noticed from her survey that the contents set in current syllabi adopted by many colleges and universities are quite divorced from requirements of professional posts, making students totally blind in their own career orientation with little employment competitiveness.

As a result, enterprises are finding it difficult to recruit qualified employees and college graduates are having trouble finding the right jobs due to lack of social practice and experience.

Proposal: Dalian seeks to lower the "threshold" for admitting students to internship bases.

Relevant departments must attach great importance to the development of professional talent training bases, relying on different industries and receiving support from industry organizations or associations.

The departments must provide the enteprises with preferential policies and financial support to stimulate their enthusiasm to cooperate with colleges and universities for common development of training and practice.

They must, as soon as possible, help industry-campus internship bases apply for provincial-level standing in order to get special sponsorship. During the common development of these kinds of bases, colleges and universities must improve professional programs and teaching content to meet career requirements.

Those programs having employment difficulties must focus on career training and guidance, helping students find internships in similar positions to improve their capabilities. Regarding students from economically challenged families, labor departments must give these students short-term skills training and internship oppurtunities.
