Expressing his greetings on the festival, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in his letter that Israel attributes great importance to Israel-China relations.
He said : "I am pleased that the people of Israel will have the opportunity to participate in these events in the framework of the Israeli Chinese Culture Festival and be exposed to such an ancient and much admired culture."
Arthur Avnon, Head of Division for Cultural and Scientific Affairs in the Israeli Foreign Ministry, also said at the conference that Israel is happy to host Chinese artists. As cultural exchange is important for the two nations. Israel plans to hold a number of cultural activities in China in the future, he said.
Six Israeli dance groups visited Shanghai to participate in the international cultural festival there. Israel also planned a series of cultural-exchange activities in the field of music and literature in China.
In the past 15 years, bilateral relations between China and Israel witnessed rapid development, both politically and culturally.
