Qingdao will continue to be a stop in China for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race over the next four years.
The Qingdao was cheered by thousands of excited locals from all walks of life as the yacht sailed into her homeport, the host city of the 2008 Olympic sailing competition.
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, chairman and founder of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, profusely praised Qingdao's organization and preparation for the Clipper 07-08 Race when he attended the award ceremony for the sixth race in the city, the sixth stopover of the sailing event.
Though young in years, the Clipper Race has evolved into an influential and world-class circumnavigation competition.
Last Sunday, yachts participating in the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Race set course for Hawaii on the seventh leg of their voyage, with tens of thousands of Qingdao citizens seeing the navigation warriors off at the harbor.
