Major upcoming investment projects

The following are Yantai's major investment projects:

West Yantai Port Project

This project consists of three parts - the liquid chemical wharf, the universal bulk cargo wharf and the oil products wharf. The liquid chemicals wharf comprises two berths of 50,000 DWT and one berth of 100,000 DWT, along with a tank zone with a storage capacity of 1 million cu m for the first construction phase. The universal bulk cargo wharf will have a 100,000-ton and a 250,000-ton berth. The oil products wharf & warehouse is expected to build a 300,000-ton and a 100,000-ton berth. It will also have a crude oil tank of 600,000 steres and a finished oil tank of 240,000 steres.

Container Terminal at #3 Pier Merchant of Zhifu Bay Port Project

Four container berths with respective tonnage capacities of 20,000, 30,000, 50,000 and 70,000 DWT are planned to be built, with throughout capacity expected to reach 1.5 million TEU when finish.

Yantai Zone-port Interactive Bonded Logistics Park

The 500,000-sq m area close to Zhifu Bay and Yantai Export Processing Zone, to the west of Huanhai Road, has been designated as a comprehensive port and logistics center.

Yantai IT Industry Outsourcing Base Project

The Yantai Municipal Government has planned to develop the 3-University Technology Park, Software Park A, Donghe New Town, Fushan IT Industrial Park, Software Park B and other zones as IT industrial outsourcing bases. It is expected to improve basic infrastructure support and supply of hardware equipments to attract IT outsourcing companies.

Comprehensive Development Project of Binhai East Road

This section is located between Yantai University and Muping Horse-Raising Island entrance road, and is about 14.6 km long, covering 246.5 hectares. This area is to be built into an integrated center for tourism, vacation recreation, cultural entertainment, and commercial and trade services, as well as other related functions.

CBD of Yingchun Avenue Project

The planned area is about 2 km long, covering a total area of 57 hectares, 29 hectares of which is earmarked for construction. The program has 3 functional areas - the commercial complex, entertainment complex and high-class business apartments, forming a new CBD combining commerce, finance, IT, cultural entertainment and residential facilities. The commercial complex provides complete services including office space, relaxation options and commercial residences; the entertainment complex contains different kinds of commercial, entertainment and cultural facilities.

Yacht Corporation Project of Golden Coast

A sightseeing center is to be constructed on the sea coast of Shandong province, which will include building a special berth for sightseeing boats, leasing 2 luxurious cruisers and purchasing six high-speed boats. Plans are also in place to set up tourists supporting system for better service.

Kunyu Mountain Tourism Development Project

The project consists of 6 sights - Shenqiyuan, Taibo Summit, Yanxia Cave, Nine-dragon Pond, Xiangu Hall and Wuran Temple.

Penglai-Aishan National Forest Park Project

Located in the northern part of Shandong Peninsula and to the southwest of Penglai City, Penglai-Aishan National Forest Park covers an area of 2,578.67 hectares, located 42 km from Penglai and 60 km from Yantai. With its ecological forest environment, perilous mountain peaks, blue lake and historical sites, this national park is the main part of the Penglai scenic area. It has 96.2 percent green coverage and has been praised as a natural oxygen bar and summer resort.

With reference to criteria like general design, resource characteristics and different usages, the forest park has been divided into 7 areas - ecology protection, manufacturing & business, and tourism areas, as well as areas for vocation, reception & service, and residences.

Yantai Minghai Animation Park Project

The project is planned to cover 1.7 million sq m, with a total construction area of 300,000 sq m. An animation theme park, a commercial and leisure center, as well as centers for animation culture exhibition and animation training are expected to be set up in order to attract animation units.

Haida Logistics Garden of Longkou Port Project

The Haida Logistics Garden is designed to use 358,400 sq m of land, with predicted total investment of 200 million yuan. In the first phase, construction in a 30,500-sq-m area was completed with an investment of 90 million yuan. The bonded warehouse for public use, covering a total area of 34,255 sq m, has been put into operation. In the second phase, the predicted investment will be 110 million yuan. Container and bulk cargo yards with an area of 78,000 sq m are also to be built. Another 100,000 sq m of land will be used as standby for the other projects so that the bonded area, export processing zone, logistics garden and port area can be linked.

Longkou Port Container Cooperation Project

At present, there are two 16,000-ton container berths in Longkou port with an annual designed capability of 2,00,000 TEU. The berth has a 120,000-sq-m working field, well equipped with machinery. Two 35,000-ton container berths, which began construction last year, will be finished in the first half of 2008. The container throughput capability of the port will reach 500,000 TEU per year after the operation of the two berths.

The second phase of the container berth project will begin operations by the end of the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-10), under which two 50,000-ton container berths will be constructed with an annual capacity of over 1 million TEU.

300,000-ton Crude Oil Wharf and 1.2 Million-Cu- M Tank Field Project

A 300,000-ton crude oil wharf will be built along with one 300,000-ton berth at the end of the wharf and many 10,000-ton berths inside the wharf. Also, a 1.2 million-cu- m oil tank field and relevant facilities will be built along the coastline, including six 100,000-cu m, eight 50,000-cu-m and eight 20,000-cu-m crude oil tanks, as well as eight 5,000-cu m product oil tanks.

Laizhou Port Container Wharf Construction Project

Established in 1992 and beginning operations in 1996, Laizhou Port was one of the first-class national harbors to open to the outside world. In 2004, Laizhou port was merged with China Overseas Group in Hong Kong to establish China Overseas Harbor Affairs (Laizhou) Co Ltd. It now has 50,000-ton special berths for liquid chemical industrial products, with one 12.9-m deep sea-route and relevant facilities also available. According to the extending project outline, the throughput of Laizhou port will reach 60 million tons by 2010 and 100 million tons by 2020. Two 50,000-ton container berths will also be built.

Laizhou Yunfeng Mountain Tour Resort Project

Five sights -Yunfeng Cliff Inscriptions Zone, Immortals Cave Zone, Chinese Gongfu Institute Zone, Wuwei-Nine Immortals Zone and Ecotypic Farmland Zone, have been earmarked for development. An estimated 240 million yuan will be invested for the whole development construction.

Laizhou Logistics Center Project

This project plans to set up markets for vegetables, seafood, agricultural trading, second-hand goods, construction materials, pets and straw knitting products, as well as a distribution center, property management center and hotels. The total construction area is about 250,000 sq m.

"China No. 1 Black Mud Beach" Project

The area is divided into six function areas, including Paradise on the Mud, Sanatorium on the Mud, Sea Paradise, Eco-friendly Paradise, Sculpture Paradise and Shopping Paradise, offering activities on the mud, casual activities and shopping.

Shandong Dawn Logistics Company Project

Shandong Dawn Group has the capacity of dealing 7 million tons of goods, including 1 million ton plastic raw materials and modified plastics for the group itself and 6 million tons of oil and chemical industrial materials as a third party for Sinopec and China Petroleum

Sewage Treatment Plant in Laiyang Economic Development Zone

The plant, with a designed daily capacity of 100,000 tons, will be located in the east of Laiyang Economic Development Zone, close to Bailong River and covering an area of 10 hectares.

It will adopt the biochemical double-treatment process and will include a reclaimed water recycling system. The green coverage will be no less than 30 percent. The plant will be surrounded by a 10-m wide green belt in order to reduce its environmental impact.

Comprehensive Development Project of the West Coast

On the west coast of South Changshan Island of Changdao County, a total area of 3,600 mu (equivalent to 240 hectares) has been demarcated for comprehensive development.
