The injuries happening to employees on the way between work and their regular residences as well as the homes of their parents or children may also be counted as "work injuries", China News Service reports.

China's Supreme Court detailed the judicial interpretations over the injury on the job Wednesday, facing the rise of work injury-related disputes in recent years.

The court noted the injuries should occur in a "reasonable span of time" and on a "reasonable route" and that the employees get injured when doing something necessary for their work or life.

Zhao Daguang with the Supreme Court explained the reasonable time span should include either the time spent on work but beyond the normal working hours or the waiting time in the office before the end of the rush hour, while a "reasonable route" can include a market on an employee's way home.

According to laws, employees with recognized work injuries can not only claim related compensations from insurers, but also get normal salaries from their employers.

The new ruling will take effect on September 1.
