Yangjiang to open cutlery expo

An annual international fair to promote hardware knives and scissors will open in Yangjiang, Guangdong province, on Friday.

Yangjiang, which has more than 1,500 companies manufacturing knives and scissors, produces about 70 percent of the country's total output of cutlery, the local government said.

The city's export of knives and scissors accounts makes up about 85 percent of the country's total exports of cutlery, according to the local government.

This year's fair will be held in a new exposition center. The exhibition area has increased by 67 percent from the previous year to 16,700 square meters. On Thursday, local authorities signed 12 deals worth 5.31 billion yuan ($871 million) with domestic and overseas investors.
