A documentary on Lu Xun College of Arts, a prestigious art school that had far-reaching effects on China's contemporary culture, will be aired on CCTV-10 on May 19.

Divided into five episodes, each 50 minutes long, the program by CCTV and the Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Radio, Film and Television took 10 months to finish.

Helmed by award-winning director Yan Dong, the documentary features exclusive interviews with more than 80 octogenarian artists who are former graduates of the college, including veteran actress Yu Lan and acclaimed poet He Jingzhi.

The college was established in 1938 by the Communist Party of China, fostering a host of performers who contributed to classic morale-boosting works during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-45).
