Zhang Gaoli was reelected secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on May 26. Zhang, born in November 1946, was elected to the post at the first plenary meeting of the 10th CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee. Chinese Vice-Premier Zhang Dejiang was elected secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China on May 22 at the end of the committee's five-day congress. Zhang, born in November 1946, is a native of Tai'an, Liaoning province. He has been a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee since 2002 and served as a vice-premier since 2008.[more] |
Zhang Qingli was elected secretary of of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Nov 22, 2011. Zhang, 60, was elected to the post at the first plenary session of the 8th CPC Hebei Provincial Committee. He had worked as acting Party chief and Party chief of Tibet in southwest China from November 2005 to August this year.[more] |
Yuan Chunqing was elected secretary of north China's Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Nov 1, 2011. Yuan was elected to the post at the first plenary session of the 10th CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee held in Taiyuan, capital of the coal-rich province. The Party Constitution stipulates that: The highest leading body of the Party is the National Congress and the Central Committee elected by it. The leading bodies of local Party organizations are the Party congresses at their respective levels and the Party committees elected by them.
