Wang Min was elected director of the Standing Committee of the northeast China's Liaoning Provincial People's Congress on October 13, 2011.
His election was announced at the third session of the 11th Liaoning Provincial People's Congress, which accepted the resignation of former director Zhang Wenyue.
Wang, 60, began to serve as secretary of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November last year.
A native of east China's Anhui Province, Wang holds a doctorate in machinery manufacturing. He took on jobs as a farmer, worker and college teacher before becoming deputy president of Nanjing Aeronautics and Astronautics University. He was made deputy governor of Jiangsu Province, east China, in December 1996.
He also served as governor of Jilin Province and secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee from 2005 to 2009.
