Chimneys spout leaves instead of smoke

Banyan trees have been found growing from two disused chimney tops at a factory in Quanzhou, East China's Fujian province, icpress.cn reports.

The facility used to be a sugar factory but now belongs to a sofa manufacturer and a stone maker.

Residents were impressed by the tenacity of nature, and the report speculated that the trees took root inside the chimneys after being fertilized by bird droppings.

After the photos were uploaded online, some Internet users said that we would see more blue skies if every chimney spouted a plant instead of smoke.
