Dancers from the National Youth Ballet Germany

As Germany's first professional ballet troupe of young people, the National Youth Ballet Germany was founded at the beginning of the 2011-2012 theater season. Based in Hamburg, the company consists of eight professional dancers between the ages of 18 and 23. It aims to demonstrate that dance has a social relevance creating a spirit of community and a sense of unity, focusing especially on a young audience.

With its own repertoire comprising mainly works by young choreographers, the troupe predominantly dance in spaces in which dance does not usually attract much interest, such as schools, museums, nursing homes and even prisons.

In Beijing, young dancers will perform three short ballets. Two are created by Chinese choreographer Zhang Disha.
