Guoping, the penname of a group of commentators from mainstream media like People's Daily and Xinhua News Agency, was awarded 2014 Person of the Year of Chinese Internet on Wednesday.
More than 200 pieces of influential comments interpreting major Chinese policies were published under the name of 国平 or Guoping, the two Chinese characters translated literally as nation and peace respectively, in 2014.
Guoping isn't the only penname adopted by mainstream Chinese media or Chinese leadership. Here are some others used by top Chinese leaders, major Chinese media outlets or government bodies.
