Ukraine urges intl community to list MH17 crash as terror act

KIEV -- The international community should list the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 as an act of terror, the Ukrainian parliament said Tuesday.

The Ukrainian side believes that the plane was likely downed by militants, who were fighting Kiev in the Donetsk region, using the Buk anti-aircraft system, the parliament said in a resolution.

The resolution also accused Russia of supporting the militants and providing them with modern equipment and weapons, including missile systems to hit air targets.

On Monday, Russia said it had not handed Buk systems or other kinds of weapons or military hardware to insurgents in Ukraine, and questioned Kiev over its alleged deployment of Buk systems not far from the crash site of the ill-fated jetliner.

The Boeing 777 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed near the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk Thursday, killing all 298 people on board.

To investigate the crash, a team of 31 international experts arrived Monday in Donetsk's neighboring city of Kharkiv outside the conflict area.
