Gallery earns Time Out shortlisting
The University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies is celebrating the shortlisting of its Brunei Gallery in Time Out magazine's Love London awards. The gallery, which is dedicated to promoting culture and stories from Asia, Africa and the Middle East, was named among the best venues for local culture in central London.The overall winner from the shortlisted candidates will be announced next month.
UK delegates on Tianjin trade visit
Representatives from UK businesses will be in Tianjin on Wednesday for a seminar organized by the British Chamber of Commerce in China and the China-Britain Business Council. Delegates will visit the Dongjiang Free Trade Zone, where they will learn about business opportunities for UK companies. The zone has 7,300 tenants and is northern China's main international shipping and logistics hub.
China insights for creative companies
The UK Department for International Trade and the arts production company Curated Place will share advice and tips with creative companies interested in international work, trade and investment at Bury Art Museum on Thursday. Penny Wang-Orme, an expert on trade with China, who works for the department, will deliver a lecture. She is a graduate of the Beijing Institute of Business and has worked in a range of sectors, including aerospace, automotives, oil and gas, food and drink, and home products. The museum is on Moss Street, Bury.
Textile makers head to Shanghai
The British Textile Machinery Association is leading a group of exhibitors to the ITMA ASIA expo, which is being held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from Friday to Tuesday. Companies involved in the textile industry, carpet makers and equipment producers are taking part in the exhibition.
