The European Union is looking forward to China's G20 presidency this year, said Hans-Dietmar Schweisgut, European Union ambassador to China.

Schweisgut said the 2016 First G20 Sherpa Meeting had been held and some issues China attached emphasis to, such as sustainable growth, trade and investment and youth fitting into society, had been raised.

He was updating reporters about China-EU relations in Beijing. He said trade and investment is still the backbone of the bilateral relationship, and both have reached clear conclusions on the ambitious and comprehensive scope of the EU-China investment agreement during its 8th round of negations, such as market entrance.

He added that the EU is supportive of China's economic transformation, which is also important for the global economy and China's economic partners, and the new normal also makes new opportunities for European Union.

He said new cooperation between China and the EU began last year, such as in Internet connectivity, telecommunication skills and financial innovation. How to Link the EU's 315 billion euro investments plan with China' Belt and Road is also an important part.

Foreign and security policies, international governance, people-to-people exchanges are also key issues on the agenda of the China-EU relationships this year, he said.
