Participation of diverse groups is encouraged in order to form the Internet governance system with the assistance of government regulation and multilateral coordination, a senior official said during a forum on Friday.

"Building a cyberspace community of shared destiny needs common effort by all nations," said Chen Zhaoxiong, vice-minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, at a sub-forum of the ongoing World Internet Conference that runs through Friday.

Seeking collective security and enhancing cooperation in cyberspace have become the common concern of people around the world, he added.

China has achieved positive results in the cooperation of international cross-border land and submarine cables construction and international Internet security emergency collaboration, said Chen.

This sub-forum focuses on cyberspace governance and aims at setting up a bridge for the dialogue between China and the world.

The Second World Internet Conference, the most high-profile Internet related event in China, is taking place in the picturesque water town of Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, Dec 16 to 18.

The conference, with a goal of “building a cyberspace community of shared destiny”, has gathered together more than 2,000 participants, including state leaders, government officials, business leaders, Internet titans, and experts from more than 120 countries and regions.
