China's V-Day parade to attract world attention: Kyrgyz military official

BISHKEK - China's V-Day parade will attract not only Kyrgyz media but worldwide attention, said a senior officer of Kyrgyz armed forces in an interview with Xinhua recently.

Asanbek Alymkozhoev, chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan, headed for Beijing Tuesday, accompanying Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev to attend China's V-Day parade to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II (WWII) on Thursday.

This event is of great global importance, Alymkozhoev said before leaving for Beijing, adding that he was glad to know that the military parade will involve Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and many other countries which took part in the anti-fascist war.

Alymkozhoev expressed his good wish to the parade on Tian'anmen Square, believing it will attract much publicity, both in Kyrgyzstan and worldwide.

As 80 percent of the countries of the world were involved in WWII, the struggle of the Chinese people against Japanese militarism and the struggle of the Soviet Union against Nazi Germany were the most bitter.

"We then fought on one side of the front, and we are now even in the fight against terrorism," he said, "Kyrgyzstan and China are always one team on one side of the barricade."

Soldiers of the National Guard of Kyrgyzstan will also march through Tian'anmen Square during the parade with soldiers from other countries.
