Lists of important and complicated issues in the South China Sea and key factors for a possible framework regarding norms of behavior in the waters were formulated in the latest meeting between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The lists, which lay the foundation for future consultations, were discussed and drafted at the 10th Senior Officials' Meeting on the Implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, co-hosted by China and Singapore, in Chongqing on Monday and Tuesday, according to Hua Chunying, spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry.

All parties committed to fully and effectively implement the declaration and continue to deepen maritime cooperation, Hua said. Major Chinese officials from the Ministry of Transport and the State Oceanic Administration shared their ideas on maritime cooperation projects with other nations' representatives.

All parties expressed a willingness to make the South China Sea "a sea of peace, friendship and cooperation", Hua said.
