The Taliban insurgent group claimed responsibility. Zabiullah Mujahid, a purported Taliban spokesman, told local media that the Taliban has launched an ambush attack against a convoy of security forces in Baghlan, killing 10 people, including several intelligence officers.

The Taliban has intensified attacks over the past couple of months as the Afghan forces took on the full responsibility for security in the country from NATO-led troops earlier this month.

About 10,000 civilians were killed and injured in Taliban-led insurgency and conflicts in the country in 2014, according to UN mission officials. They blamed the attacks of Taliban and other armed groups for vast majority of the civilian deaths and injuries.
