2 dead in workplace shooting in Minnesota, US

WASHINGTON - At least two people were killed and four others injured Thursday afternoon in a workplace shooting in Minneapolis, the U.S. state of Minnesota, local TV reported.

Minneapolis police department confirmed that at least two people were killed and four others hospitalized because of injuries, according to the Minneapolis-based Fox 9 TV.

The shooting occurred around 4:45 pm (2245 GMT) Thursday at Accent Signage System Inc. in the Bryn Mawr area of Minneapolis, said the report.

Hennepin County Medical Center confirmed that the hospital was treating at least three victims of the shooting, all in critical condition.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak posed a message on Twitter asking local people to stay away from the crime scene.

A high-ranking enforcement source told Fox 9 TV that the shooter arrived at the office Thursday afternoon after being terminated from his job earlier in the morning.

Television footage also showed multiple squad cars and police vehicles surrounded the company.
