TOKYO - Japanese government is going to release videos of seven Chinese activists landing on Diaoyu Islands, said Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura Monday on a press conference.
Fujimura confirmed the Japan Coast Guard will publish the footage taken on August 15 recorded how seven Chinese activists landing on Diaoyu Islands.
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda said on a press conference last Friday that the Japan Coast Guard is going to release the videos, as long as it dose not interfere with policing.
A total of 14 Chinese nationals were illegally detained by Japan after landing on the Diaoyu Islands on August 15 to claim China's sovereignty over the territory.
Seven of the 14 who were released flew back to Hong Kong on August 17, while the other group of seven returned home in their fishing boat from Japan's Ishigaki Island with escort of a vessel sent by the Chinese government.
As Japan decided to release 14 Chinese nationals it was detaining, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said: "China holds a clear and firm stance on the issue of Diaoyu Islands."
