Indonesia hosts South-South development conference

JAKARTA - Indonesia is hosting a high-profile conference aimed at seeking ways, share experiences to develop countries joining the South-South bloc, local media reported on Tuesday.

The conference was held in Nusa Dua, Bali, attended by 300 delegates from 46 countries, opened by Indonesian Vice President Boediono.  

Boediono said the conference is expected to produce wider array of cooperation in economic development among South-South conference member countries.

Meanwhile, speaking in the session, Indonesian Development Planning (Bappenas) Minister Armida Alishajbana said that Indonesia could share its experience in sectors of development, democracy, government administration, peace development and macro economy and financial management.

She said Indonesia has been considered successful in economic development, elimination of poverty through the program of community empowerment. She added that Indonesia now has stepped into emerging market country level from middle income country.
