PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia - A man who was armed with a sword and acted aggressively after being denied entry into the Prime Minister's office in Malaysia's Putrajaya was shot by police and died hours later, police told Xinhua.

The half-naked man and a female suspect, who was seen wearing a black veil, had tried to enter the Prime Minister's office but were declined by the security.

Police said they were forced to fire shots at them after the two attacked vehicles parked outside the office.

Putrajaya district police chief Abdul Razak Abdul Majid said the male suspect died in the hospital about three hours after the shooting.

Prime minister Najib Razak was not in his office when the incident unfolded.

Police are still investigating the suspects' identities and their motive.
