NEW DELHI - A fire broke out at Indian Finance Ministry's office in the heart of the national capital Thursday, gutting all crucial files in at least two rooms, a senior fire official said.
Six fire tenders were pressed into service when the fire broke out at 5.45 am and by 7 am, the blaze was brought under control.
"We got the information of the fire at around 5.45 am. We sent the fire tenders immediately. The cupboards, air conditioner and all records in the two rooms have been destroyed completely," fire official Karamvir Singh Yadav told the media.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained though preliminary investigation suggests that short-circuit could be the reason, he added.
