Authorities to punish unruly tourists

China National Tourism Administration Saturday opened an investigation into four passengers who kicked up a fuss onboard a flight for Nanjing from Bangkok, pledging to punish them and putting them on record for poor credit history.

The uncivilized behavior by the four Chinese tourists severely harmed the flight order, forced the plane to return, and disrupted the schedule of other passengers, the tourism authority said in a statement issued Saturday night.

The passengers have been fined and slapped with other punishments. Although an isolated case, the incident has seriously damaged the international image of Chinese people, the statement said.

The plane returned to Bangkok after Chinese tourists injured a Thai flight attendant. A female tourist threw instant noodles on the attendant and a male tourist threatened to bomb the plane. After the aircraft landed, police arrested the two and the other passengers had to board another plane.
