Old woman saves neighbors from fire

A 73-year-old woman refused to save herself from a deadly blaze, choosing instead to help her neighbors escape, reported the Chongqing Times on Tuesday.

Zhou Shubin smelled smoke at around 7 am on Sunday. Covering her mouth and nose with a wet towel, she rushed down to the fourth floor where smoke had filled the corridor. Instead of running for her life, she went back to the ninth floor and knocked on the doors of her neighbors. It was not until two young men appeared that Zhou went downstairs to safety.

Upon reaching the ground floor, Zhou passed out from breathing too much carbon dioxide. She was rushed to hospital and later recovered.
