These shows are expected to attract about 300,000 fans, and more than 20,000 tickets have already been sold for the opening season.
Although the Center, formerly known as the National Grand Theater, was an expensive and high-profile project, the powers that have worked to make sure its patronage isn't relegated only to members of high society with deep pockets.
Lower-end tickets cost only 30 yuan ($4), and authorities have pledged to ensure that the average ticket price remains below the city average.
The inaugural show, however, is an exception, with seats ranging from 180 yuan ($24) to 1,080 yuan ($144).
