The Handcraft China: Fair of Chinese Traditional Artifact Sample lifted its curtain at Beijing’s National Agriculture Exhibition Center on Wednesday. The event will run through May 3.

The exhibition showcases numerous hardcraft art forms including embroidery, kite-making and paper cutting.

The event, launched by the Chinese Culture Promotion Society, an organization that collects handcrafted items nationwide, will host the same fair at a larger scale in France in January 2015.

According to Carol Han, director of the exhibition, the fair is planned to be held annually overseas in different countries beginning next year as a vital way to promote traditional Chinese arts globally, and explore possibilities combining these traditions with foreign audience aesthetic demands.
