As China Daily, the leading English newspaper in China, will celebrate its 35th anniversary on Wednesday, the seminar was organized as an opportunity to foster sharing and communication between Chinese and foreign experts, bloggers and readers and to provide them more opportunities to share their China stories.

Harvey Dzodin, a veteran journalist and senior adviser to Tsinghua University, said in his address: "My initial encounter with China Daily was in October, 1988 on my first visit to China as a tourist. China Daily not only gave me a window on China but a lifeline to major world events. Little did I know that almost three decades later I'd have the privilege of writing for this fine international media organization."

Phoebe Sudargo, a journalist with China.org.cn and currently an exchange student at Tsinghua University, shared her opinions about a biased view of China molded by western media. She suggested that critical, objective and straightforward reporting principles should be taken into Chinese journalism to better meet the needs of those who are curious about China.
