Defaulters restricted in China: SPC

(Xinhua) Updated: 2016-02-29 21:47
BEIJING -- People who deliberately default on court fines will punished and restricted in their daily activities, according to the Supreme People's Court (SPC) Monday.

Defaulters are banned from taking planes and traveling in first-class sleeper train compartments, or taking positions in companies as legal representatives, board members, supervisors or senior executives, the SPC said.

When a corporation becomes a defaulter, its legal representatives, chief executives and those directly responsible for fulfilling the obligation will be subject to the same restrictions as individual defaulters.

The SPC also signed a memorandum with 44 central government departments and public organizations in January to impose restrictions on defaulters.

There were 3.08 million defaulters on the SPC's blacklist at the end of 2015.
