CHENGDU - At least four people have been confirmed dead and another four missing after a mudflow hit mountainous Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Southwest China's Sichuan province Thursday evening.
According to local authorities, the mudflow happened in Majingzi Town, which caused the deaths and missing. Another nine people were injured. Rescuers are still searching for survivors.
Torrential rains hit the region on Thursday. In the evening, a hailstone storm lasting for half an hour caused damages in 8,300 households in 12 townships in the prefecture.
