KATHMANDU - A 5.1-magnitude earthquake shook Barpak Village of Nepal's Gorkha District on Saturday afternoon - the epicenter of last week's powerful earthquake - which killed more than 6,600 people and left at least 14,000 injured across the Himalayan country.

According to a statement issued by Nepal's Seismological Centre, the 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck the area at 2 pm local time. Local media reports suggest more houses have been flattened by this aftershock.

The devastating earthquake last week reduced the Barpak Village to ruins, leaving dozens of people dead and several others injured. The Nepali government has already started providing relief to the earthquake-ravaged districts including Gorkha.

"The Nepal Police, Nepal Army and other rescue teams are carrying out rescue operation in the quake-hit Barpak Village," Nepal Police Spokesperson Kamal Singh Bom told Xinhua. According to the police spokesperson, no casualties were reported from Barpak after the mild earthquake on Saturday afternoon.
