Chinese local officials arrested

BEIJING -- Four Chinese local officials are being investigated by prosecutors for allegedly accepting bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said in a statement on Friday.

Among the four, Wang Min, former member of the standing committee of the Party branch of the city of Yangquan in North China's Shanxi province, and Yang Yingxiang, former deputy head of the traffic and transportation bureau of Northwest China's Gansu province, have been arrested.

The other two, Zhao Hongxing, former deputy head of the justice department of Northeast China's Jilin Province, and Luo Qifang, vice head of the geology and mineral exploration and development bureau of southwest China's Guizhou province, have been placed under "coercive measures".

According to China's criminal procedure law, coercive measures include summons by force, bail, house arrest, detention and arrest.
