Anti-graft watchdog in Hebei province seized 120 million yuan ($19.3 million) in cash, 37 kilograms of gold and 68 certificates of house ownership in an official's home.

The discipline inspection commission in Hebei province did not identify the name of the official and described the corruption case as a "shock" to them.

A local source who doesn't want to be named revealed that the official was a local director in charge of water resources from Qinhuangdao.

This is the second case with large amount of cash being found at home of an official under investigation.

Earlier this month, China's top procuratorate confirmed that cash worth more than 200 million yuan were found from the house of a former energy official. There was so much money that it broke four counting machines

The money, the largest amount seized from an individual official since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, was found at the home of Wei Pengyuan, vice director of the National Energy Administration's coal department.
