The Chinese government has set up a nuclear safety technical support system.

The completion of the system, first proposed in 2011, has been announced at a Beijing conference organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Liu Hua is the chief engineer of China's National Nuclear Safety Administration.

"In our central-level monitoring of nuclear facilities, we have an average of 20 persons to supervise one nuclear power plant. This figure almost keeps pace with the international standard. Moreover, we have 330 supervisors to inspect the nuclear facilities' construction process round the clock."

In addition, an environmental monitoring system has been put in-place to monitor for any radioactive leaks from nuclear power plants.

The Chinese government decided to create the nuclear support system in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear reactor meltdown in Japan.
