BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping met with a delegation from the Russian Communist Party headed by the party's leader Gennady Zyuganov on Friday at the Great Hall of the People.

During the meeting, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, lauded the development of the overall strategic partnership coordination between China and Russia, noting that he keeps close communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin and has reached "high-degree consensus" with the Russian president on boosting practical cooperation between the two countries.

Hailing the enduring friendly interactions between the CPC and the Russian Communist Party, Xi said the development of the China-Russia relationship demands closer links between the two parties.

The Chinese side stands ready to increase personnel interactions as well as exchanges on party development and party theory with the Russian Communist Party, Xi said.

Xi also briefed the guests on the CPC's ideas of governance, the socialist path with Chinese characteristics, China's ongoing overall reform and the Chinese people's drive to achieve national rejuvenation.

"We will unswervingly follow the correct path of socialism with Chinese characteristics," said the Chinese leader.

Zyuganov, chairman of the Russian Communist Party's Central Committee, said the Russian party firmly supports the development of Russia-China partnership.

Speaking highly of China's achievements scored in various causes and the CPC's concept and capability of governance, Zyuganov said his party is willing to enhance cooperation with the Chinese party, and introduce China's achievements and experience to Russia so as to play a bigger role to enhance the friendship between the two peoples and promote bilateral relations.

Zyuganov also called on Russia and China to further strengthen coordination in the vicissitudes of the international environment in order to better safeguard world peace and stability.
