A primary school first grader, Duan Houxiong, 7, managed to use the earthquake preparedness knowledge he learned at school to escape the deadly earthquake that struck Longtoushan town, Zhaotong city, Sunday Aug 3.
Duan said his school had previously held three lectures on earthquake preparedness, and he listened attentively.
The magnitude-6.5 earthquake has killed 589 people so far.
