Cases were transferred to relevant departments for further investigation by the National Audit Office (NAO), it said in a statement.

Of all the cases, accepting bribes was the most common criminal activity among local officials, including Du Bidong, a transport official in Shaanxi Province who was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for accepting 4.51 million yuan (about 730,000 US dollars) in bribes, according to the NAO.
