Leaders from 16 European countries will gather in Chongqing municipality from July 2 to 4 for a major meeting focusing on trade and boosting cooperation across a range of sectors.
“It is the first Sino-Central and Eastern European countries conference,” said Liu Haixing, general-director of the Department of European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The prime ministers of Hungary and Romania, and other leaders from central and eastern Europe, will attend the meeting.
Liu said that the meeting aims to attract more investment from Europe, and give Chinese enterprises increased trade opportunities.
Ai Yang, deputy secretary-general of the Chongqing government, said the city is ready for the international conference.
