SINGAPORE -- The fourth China-Singapore defense policy dialogue was held in Singapore on Tuesday, jointly chaired by Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of the People's Liberation Army, and Chiang Chie Foo, Singapore's permanent secretary of defense.

The two sides had in-depth discussions on topics such as the bilateral relations, the relations between the armed forces of the two countries, the regional security situation and other issues concerning both parties.

The two sides shared the view that the further enhancement of the cooperation between the two countries' armed forces is significant to the healthy and steady development of the bilateral relations, as well as regional peace and stability.

Both sides have a positive assessment of the friendly cooperation between their armed forces and vow to keep the momentum in high-level visits. They also voiced hope for both sides to boost the exchanges and cooperation in personnel training, professional exchanges and joint training, and facilitate visits to the other side by young officers.

Both parties said they hoped to see stronger coordination and cooperation on regional security issues and promote the further development of the bilateral military relations.

Ma arrived in Singapore on Monday, leading the Chinese military delegation on a three-day visit.
