Chinese, Russian publishers expecting more co-op

BEIJING - Publishers associations of China and Russia on Friday signed a framework agreement to boost bilateral cooperations and exchanges.

In addition to scheduled annually talks, the Publishers Association of China and the Publishers Association of Russia also agreed to host more activities on copyright promotions.

They also pledged to facilitate publishers from each side have an easy access to annual international book fairs in Beijing and Moscow, respectively.

Chinese mainland's publishing industry faces a large "cultural deficit" as 16,639 copyrights were imported while only 7,783 were exported in 2011.
