China Telecom Corp Ltd, China's smallest telecom operator, will launch the CDMA-version Xiaomi smartphone this month, a spokesman said on Friday.
China Telecom will become the second Chinese telecom carrier to offer the Xiaomi smartphone on contract, Chen Zhongyue, general manager of client relations, told a news briefing in Beijing.
China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd, signed a contract with Xiaomi to purchase more than one million Xiaomi handsets at the end of last year.
Xiaomi's mobile phone, which hit the Chinese market in August 2011, had already sold 1 million units by March, said Lei Jun, Xiaomi's chairman and chief executive officer. The first-generation Mi-One is priced at 1,999 yuan ($312.3).
