HARBIN - One medical worker was killed and another three injured after being attacked at a hospital in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province on Friday, the provincial health department said.

The attack occurred at the inpatient department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, located in the provincial capital of Harbin, on Friday afternoon.

The injured, including two in critical condition, are receiving treatment at the hospital.

A patient at the hospital who is suspected of initiating the attack has been detained, local police said. No further details have been provided.

A probe into the cause of the incident is under way.
