Negotiations on Ukraine crisis solution 'in right direction'

PARIS - Top diplomats from Ukraine, Russia, the United States and France, as well as other European officials, agreed on Wednesday to continue negotiations and to find a pacific solution to the Ukrainian crisis, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said.

"The situation is not easy, but we are happy that this day in Paris, for the first time, allows something to start up," French top diplomat said after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Ukraine's interim Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchytsya.

"We agreed to try to find a pacific solution which allows to end the crisis in the coming days," he said.

Fabius said as a result of Wednesday's meeting in Paris, "something develops towards the right direction for the first time."

Foreign ministers from Russia, the US and Ukraine gathered Wednesday in Paris for a meeting of the International Support Group for Lebanon to seal deals to help stabilize the Arab country, and discussed the ongoing tension in the Ukraine on the sidelines of the meeting.
